"And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment." Phil. 1:9
Quiet Time
Quiet Time? I don't know about you but that seems like an oxymoron in my life...
We all run at a very fast pace and barely have time to sit down and breathe. A huge step to having a growing relationship with Jesus Christ is having a consistent quiet time. A quiet time is nothing more than a few minutes out of the day where you sit down with your Bible and maybe a journal and begin to meditate on God's Word.
There are tons of resources available that will help you begin this discipline in your life.
Here is a plan you can put into practice with just about any book of the Bible...
- choose a book of the Bible to work through (suggestions...Psalms, Proverbs, James, John, Philippians, these are just a few that are good to start with)
- take either one verse or just a few verses at a time and work through them gradually moving from chapter to chapter
- write out the acrostic SOAP in your journal every day and follow the pattern
S - Scripture - Write down the verse(s) word for word in your journal.
O - Observation - Write down the meaning of the verse(s) in the context it was originally written. In other words...what did it mean then?
A - Application - Write down how this verse(s) applies to your life today.
P - Prayer - Write down a prayer to God to help you today with whatever you learned from His word.
